Why iKapa Impact is a responsible program
responsible internships Done Right
If interning is not done right, it can be harmful to the people it's supposed to be helping. To avoid this we focus on education around responsible internships, as well as what that means and why iKapa Impact is a responsible program. Everyone interns for different reasons but ultimately knowing your WHY is really important.
5 Ways iKapa Impact is a responsible and sustainable program:
1. By working closely together with our partners, we ensure that the real needs of the local communities are met rather than a perceived need. We work with your particular skills so that you are not taking away a job that a local may have had. These organizations know what kinds of skills and assistance they need, making this program as much about learning as it is about giving.
2. The programs that run through iKapa Impact all have long-term and sustainable goals which can be met even if interns/Interns can no longer be involved. Our aim is not to create a cycle of dependency on aid or interns but to have systems that are mutually beneficial to the interns, interns and locals.
3. We offer 24/7 support to our overseas interns, and will help with any problems that may arise. We train you and make sure that you know what you need to do and how to do it.
4. We work with a strict Child Protection Policy and Code of Conduct, to protect the children we look after. You will need to get a Police clearance check as well.
5. We provide thorough orientation for interns and interns.
